Health Partners Plans (HPP) and the National Council on Aging (NCOA) have signed a contract to allow area residents to get help paying for food, prescription drugs, health care, utilities and other basic needs through BenefitsCheckUp®.
The NCOA BenefitsCheckUp is a free, online tool that has helped more than 4 million older adults, persons with disabilities and low-income families find $14.9 billion worth of benefits to offset the growing costs of living. This partnership will enable Health Partners (Medicaid), Health Partners Medicare, and KidzPartners (CHIP) members gain access to these money-saving benefits at www.BenefitsCheckUp.org/hpp.
“Like Health Partners Plans, NCOA is ‘doing it right’ for older adults by providing the resources for healthier, happier lifestyles, especially those with limited income,” said William S. George, HPP president and CEO. “We couldn’t be more thrilled to team up to improve the health outcomes for our Health Partners Plans members who need it most.”
“We stand with Health Partners Plans in their goal to improve the health and lifestyles of their members,” said James Firman, NCOA president and CEO. “NCOA is pleased that HPP will use BenefitsCheckUp to help members who may be struggling and are unaware of the public benefits that can help them be healthy and independent.”
NCOA has spent 65 years working to improve the health and economic well-being of older adults through greater access to benefits. There are more than 2,000 local, state and federal programs that exist to assist older adults, but many people don’t know about them or how to apply. NCOA’s BenefitsCheckUp service addresses that problem by asking a series of questions and creating a personalized list of money-saving programs for each user.
The National Council on Aging (NCOA) is a respected national leader and trusted partner to help people aged 60+ meet the challenges of aging. Our mission is to improve the lives of millions of older adults, especially those who are struggling. Through innovative community programs and services, online help, and advocacy, NCOA is partnering with nonprofit organizations, government, and business to improve the health and economic security of 10 million older adults by 2020.
