MASON CITY —
“We’re Racing for a Cure” is this year’s slogan for the annual
JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation) Gala Saturday in the
Olson Building at the North Iowa Fairgrounds.
Highlights will include “horse racing,” appetizers, a silent
auction with more than 100 items and music by the Sorta Jazz
JDRF of North Iowa 2011 Youth Ambassador Molly Krahenbuhl of St.
Ansgar will be the guest of honor.
Those attending the gala will be able to bet on horses racing
around a track in the Olson Building, with proceeds going to JDRF.
For the purists, there will even be a real racehorse standing
outside, courtesy of Country Club Stables in Mason City.
Doors open and entertainment will begin at 5 p.m. Food stations
will be open at 6 p.m. Races will begin about 7:30 p.m.
Tickets for the gala cost $35 per person, $15 for those 12 and
under, and are available at Hy-Vee stores in Mason City, Mercy
Medical Center-North Iowa, First Citizens National Bank, Lake Auto
Parts in Clear Lake and Edgar Financial Group.
